Palaver, used as a verb, basically means "to communicate".  It can mean idle talk, or to find the valuable from casual conversation, or to gain an insight from open discussion.  It is an action that describes two or more people acting together. In some tribal villages, the only building other than dwellings is the "palaver hut," which serves as the town hall for resolving issues.
