The genre of the ‘occasional paper’ opens up the publication possibilities for research and writing by authors. From the point of view of a publisher, occasional papers can be less expensive to edit and more likely to be disseminated in a timely way than the other formats enabling the formal transmission of ideas.
Occasional papers can arise from an initiative of an organisation, group, or individual. They can be ‘one-offs’ or can constitute a coherent series over time. Occasional papers allow Palaver to respond to discrete, high-quality, ethically focused submissions of a limited length.
